Dr Melissa Cave

General practitioner

Dr Melissa Cave came to Australia in 2014 and has worked in the Illawarra during that time delivering care to the residents of the local area. Dr Cave qualified as a doctor in 2008, gaining her GP qualification in 2013 in the UK. Having spent 4 years as a midwife in the UK prior to becoming a doctor, her specialist interests include women’s health, contraceptive services and being involved in antenatal shared care.

Her vision is to provide traditional style general practice in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Dr Cave understands the need to spend time with patients and openly avoids the throughput of patients that can happen at some medical centres.

Dr Mais Ria

General practitioner

Dr Mais Ria has been a doctor for 12 years, gaining her GP qualification in 2015 in the UK. She moved to Australia in 2018 and has been working as a GP in the Illawarra since. Her specialist interests include children’s health, women’s health including contraceptive services as well as aesthetic medicine.

Dr Mais holds postgraduate qualifications in Medical Education and Coaching and enjoys being involved in the training of junior doctors and GPs. Coming from Yorkshire in England, Mais loves ‘countryside’ General Practice and understands the value of a good consultation. She is excited to be working in a place that feels like home.

Dr Lynsey McKinstry

General practitioner

Dr McKinstry undertook her university and junior doctor training in Northern Ireland before moving to Australia in 2014.She has experience in a broad range of medicine from paediatrics through to geriatric medicine as well as extensive experience in surgery and emergency medicine, from 2012-2019, primarily in the Australian hospital system. She completed general practise training on the south coast of NSW in 2021.

Particular areas of interest include skin cancer management and excisions, women’s health including offering mirena IUD insertions and implanons.

In her free time you might spot Dr McKinstry walking her dog or enjoying the beach. If you can’t find her she might be exploring this beautiful country in her camper van.

Kelly Clarke

Practice manager/Practice nurse

Kelly has extensive experience as a practice nurse and has been delivering care to the residents of the Illawarra for over 15 years. She takes a pride in delivering high quality care to her patients and her empathetic nature and non- judgemental approach is openly received.

Kelly also assists in running the practice and helps to maintain the high standard of care the surgery provides.

Kristen is a Registered Nurse and Midwife with experience in both Public and Private Hospitals in the Illawarra. Kristen also brings the experiences of working in a Private Obstetric Practice and as a Practice Nurse. Kristen enjoys meeting the range of patients that she sees in the General Practice setting from babies through to the elderly and watching them set and achieve their health goals.

Sheree

Receptionist

Sheree has been working in medical administration for over 20 years. She has a great passion for initiating and maintaining effective communication for patients, from the first contact on the phone, to welcoming them into the surgery. Sheree has worked in Wollongong for many years and is now enjoying the ‘country feel’ of Jamberoo.
